I think using Facebook as a strategy for marketing is a good idea. I especially like the companies that use Facebook for a more casual side for their companies, ex. showing "behind the scenes", responding to customers, etc.
Facebook applications can be such an effective marketing tool. My favorite coffee shop/restaurant in my college town in Iowa was great at incorporating their weekly news and any updates on Facebook to promote their shop. Since the restaurant only operated on the weekends, they posted the current menu each week. They also advertised the visiting artists and other events, like wine tasting. It worked really well for my friends and me to be able to plan for trips to the coffee shop and work around our school schedule to make it to the events that interested us. With the high usage rates of Facebook, I don't see why a business would NOT utilize some of these options.
