I think that social media is one of the best ways to get leads. Majority of people frequent at least one social media website, if not more. There is constant traffic on the internet to these social media websites. Any business that is looking for a quick response, someone to get added to their e-mail list, etc. should look into advertising on social media sites. Many restaurants have made pages/accounts on different websites to advertise weekly specials, send out coupons, etc. to drive traffic.

TV ads are expensive but creating an account on twitter, facebook and the dozens of other social media cites is completely free! I have always had dreams of opening my own restaurant and would keep myself in the social media game with coupon campaigns and advertise special offers online. With so many people tech savvy now a days it is stupid to not be online trying to get leads. Even my grandma who is approaching 70 is tech savvy. It is not just kids online anymore, everyone is and you could reach so many online. It is easy for consumers to get involved online and easy for you to simply post. Win win for everyone!
I think social media in today's society is the absolute best way to get leads. TV, radio, and print ads are extremely expensive while social media is completely free. It's safe to say that most people look at some sort of social media every single day whether that be Facebook, twitter, instagram, etc. The best way to reach a large amount of people quickly is through social media. I've seen more and more businesses offering "social media offers" for their followers. Especially for a small company social media is the way draw attention and gain excitement about their product.
I also agree with Alyssa considering all social media websites provide a unique way to corner and target a group of people. The entire concept of the profile for an individual is somewhat similar to the lead profiles in sales. But, in social media it is much more in depth and fine tuned. Selling nike shoes shoot a ad campaign that caters to the biggest demographic that follow you on a social media website. It's marketing gold and all social media websites know it therefor also charge to have it obtained.
Shopping cart re-marketing might just be the most ingenious way to capture a lead to generate a sale. You already have the lead, knowing that someone wants to buy an item, so why not keep on pursing them to finish their check-out? So simple, yet it has never been pursued until recent.
Furthermore, one of the more clever things that I have noticed is if you search online to get a credit card from your favorite retailer, than the company will start sending you e-mails about getting a card. Even more, they will send you emails to get discounts on items only if you have their credit card (even when you don't have their card yet). I am inclined to believe that you are wanting to do this through cookies. Genius!
I remember reading in a blog about how CRMs can send shivers down most customer spines, but some CRMs are getting incredibly smart at catering to exactly a customers needs. Needless to say, the future is a great thing for marketers.
I believe social media is a great tool many businesses need to focus on. There are some that will probably not see a lot of leads come through social media. A lawn care service would be an example. I'm not saying lawn care companies shouldn't use social media as part of their marketing strategy, but social media should not be the main focus of their marketing. Getting leads is imperative to many firms and social media is a cost affective way (excluding time involved). I believe the more consumers shop and get information online, the more leads via social media will become even more important and focused on.
Personally, I found it interesting that LinkedIn was such an important resource for generating sales leads. I know it is an important networking tool, but I wasn't sure how much actual consumer business took place as a result.
It almost seems like every article on here talks about how important social media is. It makes sense that social media would be great to create leads because of the human interaction.
Social media is very powerful these days. I believe that anything is possible through social media. Social media has become a medium for sales, advertising, petitioning, current events, and so much more.
Another article about how companies can use social media to generate more business. The tips provided are great, but as I believe I have said once before, people could possibly start become numb to all the ads. One of the movies we watched in class compared the consumer to roaches and said the more you keep spraying them with "ads" the less effect it has on the consumer. I think all these articles we have read had made valid points; however, it just makes me feel like soon all the advertising will turn people away from social media.
