Personally, I don't make detailed plan. Because I need some room to adjust and don't want to push myself too much. But it's important to keep your top priority in mind. To business plan, sharing the outline and ultimate goal with your colleagues are very important too.

A simple marketing plan is very important for small business because it can help to guide day-to-day activities. The simpler the plan, the more effective it can be. A simple plan can give you more flexibility to quickly adjust the tactics.

This is a simple plan that should be reviewed every day by anyone in the start-up phase of a small business. Remind yourself what you are doing and why you are doing it. I also liked on of the comments that pointed out alternatives to spreadsheets, such as MindMaps and Workflows. If something doesn't work, try something different!

I like the last part where the author talks about remembering its a business and not a hobby.
I have practically seen young entrepreneurs fail because they couldn't think along these lines.
Agreed it's your passion, but you always need to remember your are trying earn your living too!
