Social Media usage

Yes?! No? There is a good chance. The more I read about social media usage, the more aware I am of my own time spent as well as others. Having access to these social media apps and their stupid little notifications (CONSTANTLY), make it much harder to ignore despite how busy I am and all of my valiant efforts to not waste time on these things.

My usage doesn't really match with the above. I have used about 4 of those but probably only use one on a regular basis. The others I no longer use or only use every once in a while. I'm not surprised that Facebook and YouTube are at the top of the list. I thought maybe Twitter would have a higher percentage.

Google+? Do people actually use that? Before answering that question, when was the last time you heard someone say that they GooglePlus'd a status, as opposed to someone who tweeted? If your answer is much like mine (not even once), then you might be surprised to see that Google+ closely competes with Twitter in almost every category. While this is an interesting website that seems to offer a great value proposition for marketers, this insight raises some questions. It may be interesting to see some insight as to how much activity on each platform has real community involvement.

I am still stuck in the "dark ages" when it comes to my phone. I have a basic phone that does not have apps, internet, etc. Logging onto the computer, Facebook is at the top of my list as far as usage. I use LinkedIn as well, and those two are the extent to my social media usage. I feel like social media gets to be too much, and I like to limit it. When I upgrade my phone, I don't think I will be having my phone tell me every time I receive a message, etc. on social media.

This doesn't seem correct to me in the least based on my own experiences with social media and what I've seen from friends. Some of the most time-consuming apps (such as Vine) are near the bottom while things I've never even heard of (WhatsApp) are at the top. Also, I completely agree with what Mark said about Google+. I had no idea anyone actually used that, and I especially didn't realize it was more than twitter. Everyone and everything is using hashtags for twitter and instagram it seems.

I too am surprised by Twitter's low ranking on the list. I find it hard to believe that YouTube is the number two most popular mobile app. It seems as though people spend the most time on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Tumblr. Then again, YouTube is often included on many of these sites, so maybe users visit YouTube more often than meets the eye.

My usage actually does somewhat match up with the data. I mainly use only facebook and then YouTube when I am trying to find a certain song, or when studying I have a certain playlist that I always listen too. When it comes to Google+ and facebook messenger and WhatsApp, is where the percentages are completely off. I have never use WhatsApp and its rare that I actually use facebook messenger. I find it a bit odd that out of the top ten I only know about 6 of the actual apps.

Well, sort of.. I feel like the accuracy of this list depends on your age. I do not know anyone that uses Google+ on a regular basis, and twitter and Instagram seem to be much more popular than what is conveyed on this list. A few of the social media sites on the list I have never been even tempted to try which makes me think that the people using them must either be a little older or a little younger than me, because as far as I know, other people my age are not using them as well.

I do think that my social media usage matches up to an extent with North America's overall trends. Until I got my iPhone, almost 2 years ago, I would have not fit into these statistics hardly at all. I think when you have all of these apps/websites at your fingertips, you're of course going to be more likely to use them all.

My social media usage isn't quite as high as the usage that the website shows. I find it interesting that Google+ is so high on the list, because I don't know many people that use it. I've never even heard of the WhatsApp, so it was surprising to see that it's number 5 on the list. I'm also surprised that Instagram and Twitter are as far down on the list as they are, because they seem to be used quite often, along with facebook. I definitely use Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram more than any other social media websites, so my usage really doesn't match up with this much at all.

My social media usage does not match up with the survey in this article. I use instagram far more than Twitter (don't have one), WhatsApp (don't even know what that is), or Google plus (does anyone actually use that?).

I am surprised that Facebook still has the number one spot, as much as people complain about Facebook today being filled with buzzfeed lists, advertisements, and annoying articles and comics. I think youtube will continue to remain at the top of the list, although I wouldn't consider it social media as much as I would a place to listen to free music and watch funny videos.

I only use three from the list above. I was surprised that Twitter wasn't listed higher. It seems to be in the news frequently. Like other people have mentioned, I had no idea that Google+ was still being used.

My usage somewhat matches the given social media sites and apps. I mostly just stick with the basics such as Facebook and youtube. I don't really use all the other websites because Facebook has really become all those sites in one to an extent. It may not involve everything on the list given in the article but it seems like all those sites are similar so instead of using all those and having accounts on all those websites i just stick with Facebook. Overall my social media usage falls with those two websites and with a few others not listed.

This doesn't really match my social media usage, all I really use are YouTube and Skype. I am very surprised to see Google+ so high. Most people either don't know what that is or have never heard of it.

I probably check instagram the most, then twitter, then Facebook. However, I probably spend the most time on Facebook because I get sucked into the links and stupid Buzzfeed. So in that way I do identify with the data. But I also don't use a lot of the social media platforms listed.

The figures are certainly impressive. But I would like to know their actual validity. In my case I must have about a dozen accounts on social networks when in reality I do not really use a (professional). For others I'm pretty sure I counted at least 6 or 7 times. (Log in once a month is not a good criterion). Similarly is it having a twitter account just tweets being part of a social network?

These percentages are pretty close to the social media that I use. I'm on Facebook and Pinterest most of the time. I keep to less that a hand full of media sights so they do not consume my life. If you can reach me on Facebook then I do not need twitter, Instagram, and any other media sights that connect me to my family and friends.

Yes, I believe my social media usage stacks up similarly to the list. I use Facebook most frequently usually once every few days or if I'm bored more frequently. YouTube is definitely the second most used for me as well. I like to watch music videos and funny stuff. As far as Twitter, Instagram and the others I don't have an account, I see them as second to Facebook and have never had any interest. I do use Pinterest a lot though and it isn't even on the list.

I would say my social media usage is pretty close to this list. I use Facebook more than anything. I would put my usage closer to 90% and everything else equivalent to 10%. I tried Twitter, couldn't keep interested. I also have other accounts such as Four Square, Instagram, YouTube, etc. But none are used nearly as frequently as Facebook. Unfortunately I, along with many others, spend WAY too much time on these social media websites!

My usage doesn't really match the article. I have an older smart phone, that I really only use for texting or checking my email. At home, I might use Google+ or You Tube some.

Wow, Twitter is soooo low!!!! I thought it would be up there with Facebook and YouTube. I'm not surprised about YouTube. A great way to procrastinate is to watch some YouTube vids. Google+ should be done away with. Nobody that I have talked to like it.

So, here is my day with usage:
Youtube = 70%
Facebook = 20%
Twitter = 10%

Out of the whole list i use only 3. I thought instagram would be a little higher on the list being that its a fairly new social media network, and a lot of people are using it. Facebook is starting to bother alot of people with their game request. Thats the thing thats driving me away from facebook!

I tend to use twitter more than anything else. On my phone twitter is the best app to send out a quick post and see what other people are saying and get off. In my opinion, other apps like Facebook and YouTube aren't quite as compatible for mobile usage as twitter.

It looks like Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and Google+ are among the top 4 social media sites all across the globe. Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube I would have guessed but Google+? I guess I am not up with the times. I don't have Google+ nor do I have any friends that do. Is there an added benefit that Google+ offers? I can't say I have heard much about it at all. On the other side of the spectrum, Facebook still has the most usage in the US by far. I am someone who uses Facebook far more than other social media sites . It is easy and quick to read, I enjoy browsing all of the articles that get shared, and I like the timeline form so I can follow people as they conquer new aspects of life. I think it is far more enjoyable than the competing social media sites.

Maybe I am not up with the times, but I don't even know what Google+ is. I don't have one, my friends don't have one. Is there an added value to Google+ that I am missing out on? On the other side of the spectrum, Facebook usage is substantially higher than all other social media sites in the US. I use Facebook more than any other social media site for many reasons. I like the timeline view, it makes it easy to follow my friends as they take on new aspects of life. I also enjoy all of the articles that come up on my profile, they are interesting reads when I have spare time. Lastly, I know Twitter is becoming more and more prominent but I don't love it and can't say I use it much. I would be interested to hear the different ways consumers using Twitter.
