Sounds like they're following in Facebook's foot steps by making a private social network, and watching it grow because everybody wants to be part of an exclusive club. Also, with marijuana becoming more mainstream it will only grow.
Looks like they're following in Facebooks foot steps by creating a private social network, that will keep growing since everybody wants to be part of something exclusive. Also, it will only grow since marijuana is becoming more and more mainstream.
Like Tom had said. It is following in the line of Facebook and other social networking sites getting users with similar interests involved with one another.
We see cannabis getting huge. There is a potential there and some investors seem to notice that. Every week there are more news about marihuana and cannabis. They are hot topics these days.
How about MassRoots? Every community has different ways to communicate. There are newsletters, weekly meetings, Facebook groups, etc. And now, for cannabis community there is a mobile network called MassRoots which is founded in April 2013.
Certainly, there are many Facebook groups for cannabis users. Why bother starting up a mobile network exclusively for cannabis users, you may ask. There are many advantages, I think. First and the most important one is controllability. Facebook groups are controlled by Facebook. MassRoots or similar networks are controlled by their selves. They can add or remove features, and more importantly set their own rules.
Second advantage will come after the project is grown. When they reach a million users, they will be able sell ads, customer information, and many more stuff in their web store easily.
Many other states seem to legalize or take some steps to do it. If that becomes a reality, the site will get more and more customers. And reaching a particular demographics is always mouth watering for marketing and advertising firms. So, finally their business model evolve and become more sustainable.
This truly does not surprise me. There never seems to be a lack of backing when it comes to anything marijuana related. I am not sure if this is a needed social media site with Facebook and everything. However, it does create a more exclusive network for people with this lifestyle.

Could be a good idea - but considering marijuana is only legal in certain states, I don't see how this is exactly legal...
